About the magazine

The Aesthetic Magazine is a British beauty magazine published by Northbank Media. It covers skincare science, aesthetic treatments, fashion and style, wellness, hair and colour, fragrance and beauty culture across eight desks.

The premise is simple. Most beauty writing tells you what to buy. This one tries to tell you how something works, what is actually known about it, and where the knowledge runs out, on the assumption that a reader who understands the mechanism makes better decisions than one who has been given a verdict.

How articles are attributed

Articles carry no individual byline. They are written and reviewed by the editorial team and published under the title. We do not print contributor credentials. The reasoning is set out in full in our editorial standards.

How it is paid for

There is no advertising on this site, no affiliate link, no sponsored article and no paid placement of any kind. Nothing named in an article has bought its mention. The magazine is funded by its publisher, and the only thing it asks of a reader is a weekly email address, if they want one.

What we will not publish

  • Rankings of businesses: we have not assessed them, so we publish selection criteria instead.
  • Prices we cannot source: a treatment price varies by practitioner, region and plan, and a made-up number is worse than none.
  • Before and after imagery: it is uncontrollable as evidence and it sells.
  • Claims dressed as findings: where evidence is thin, the article says so.

The archive

This site is a full restoration of an archive of 148 articles that went offline when its host failed. Every original address has been rebuilt at exactly the path it had, so that links and citations made to it over the years still resolve.
